I read this book years ago and did not leave a review then, which I regret. I love this story...it includes family, trust, care, heartache, and love. We get the chance to glimpse into a teenager coming of age; a woman trying to balance life, new love, being a mom, and dealing with her past; a man haunted by some of his past choices trying to be the best father he can be; and a little girl who manages to bring them all together. Fascinating read, different than most I've read. Placing two widows together with there children made it exceptional. Thanks to the author for the entertainment
Have tissues. The story starts off a little heartbreaking, but later draws happy tears. The kids are adorable, the romance sweet and sexy, and the best part is the meddling family, everyone tries to help Hunter and Sandy get out of their own way and end up where they belong - together!
I've read a few stories by Tori Scott, and what they've all had in common is a strong emotional investment and that "sugar and spice" dynamic and this one certainly doesn't disappoint. The romance is sexy without being blunt, and the overall story is just so endearing as the whole family falls in love with each other, but face old fears and hurts to overcome.
Lean On Me is hands down one of the most heartwarming contemporary romance stories I've ever read. It shows love, family, loyalty, and honor in many forms. It's an awesome quick read for whenever you just need a little pick me up. This will without a doubt bring a smile to your face!
Tori Scott did a great job of making these characters feel real to me. Hunter is such an authentic man, making all the usual mistakes our real men do. And the black moment when it looked like this wouldn't work out for Sandy and Hunter just broke my heart. Their conflicts were very real, especially for anyone who is a parent. Well done!
I read the first four chapters and had to wait a few days for the rest and was so eager to finish it. Tori has a gift for developing the characters and braiding together their storylines in a manner which holds the reader in place until the end. Good good book.
Tori Scott is one of those authors who with each book/novella of hers that I read, it becomes my current favorite. I like that this story had both inspirational elements and a sexy romance--usually romance novels are one or the other but not both. I liked how the hero and heroine had strong character arcs, as did several secondary characters--hard to do in a shorter book, but the author pulled it off. A quick and enjoyable read!
These characters felt real to me. I couldn't stop reading it!! Completed it in a day. Great job of making Hunter such an authentic man, making all the usual mistakes our real men do. Their conflicts were very real, especially for anyone who is a parent.
There were a couple of heart in the mouth moments where you have to speed read to find out what happens next.

A real feel good story that is sure to warm your heart. Two adults who have loved and lost, but they aren't the only ones who are suffering. Hunter is having a devil of a time trying to deal with his 17 yr. old teenage son, Jason, who blames him for the loss of his mother. Sandy lives next door to Hunter, She has a 4 yr. old daughter, who she's been raising on her own, after her control freak-- cheating husband was killed in a car accident a few years ago.
They are all brought together after a major tagedy happens. But will they ever be able to get past the hurt and betrayal of their lost loves?
